Normal structure of female private parts
External genitalia, also known as vulva, is located between the inner thighs, with the pubic symphysis in front and the perineum in the back, including the pubic mound, labia majora, labia minora, clitoris and vaginal vestibule.
Pubic mound: a fat pad that bulges in front of the pubic symphysis. During puberty, the skin on it begins to grow inverted triangle-shaped pubic hair. The density and color of pubic hair vary by race and individual.
Labia majora: a pair of longitudinally raised skin folds on the inner thigh, extending downward and backward from the pubic mound to the perineum. The outer side of the labia majora is skin, which has pigmentation and pubic hair after puberty, and has sebaceous glands and sweat glands; the inner side of the labia majora is moist and mucous. The labia majora of nulliparous women closes naturally on both sides, separates to both sides after delivery, and gradually shrinks after menopause.
Labia minora: a pair of thin skin folds located on the inner side of the labia majora on both sides. The surface is moist, brown, hairless, and rich in nerve endings. The front ends of the labia minora on both sides fuse and are divided into two leaves. The front leaf forms the clitoral hood and the back leaf forms the clitoral frenulum. The back ends of the labia majora and minora merge at the midline to form the labia minora frenulum.
Clitoris: Located below the tops of the two labia minora. The clitoris is divided into three parts. The front part is the clitoral head, which is exposed to the vulva, rich in nerve endings and sensitive to sexual stimulation; the middle part is the clitoral body; the back part is the two clitoral crus, with pubic branches attached on both sides.
Vestibule: A diamond-shaped area with the clitoris in front, the labia minora frenulum in the back, and the labia minora on both sides. There is a shallow pit between the vaginal opening and the labia minora frenulum, called the scaphoid fossa, also known as the vaginal vestibule fossa. This pit disappears in women who have given birth due to the influence of childbirth. This area includes the vestibular bulbs, the greater vestibular glands, the external urethral orifice, the vaginal opening, etc.
