There are many reasons why women feel pain during their first sexual intercourse. On the one hand, nervousness and inability to relax can cause muscle contraction; on the other hand, insufficient vaginal secretions can easily cause abrasion and pain; rupture of the hymen can also cause pain. However, the hymen does not necessarily rupture during the first sexual intercourse. The thickness of the hymen varies from person to person. A thin hymen may be ruptured during vigorous exercise, while a thicker hymen may remain intact after several sexual intercourses.
